"Sailor Pups"

This adorable trio of labs was painted on a 16" x 20" canvas for a lovely lady who commissioned this portrait as a Christmas gift for her husband. She wanted this special painting to portray three generations of their pups, thus we have "Colby" (the brown lab) who is the father of "Lexi" (the yellow lab) who is the mother of "Baxter" (the black lab). Colby is depicted as being present "in spirit" since he is was unfortunately no longer among the living, which is why he was painted with a unique "see-through" effect.
Here are the reference photos I combined to create the "Sailor Pups" portrait. The poses of each dog were taken from separate photos, as well as the blanket they're sitting on in the boat, which they loved to ride in :)
