This is the main reference photo I used of Terrence (I had to as lib his tail!)
Just me posing with the almost finished version of the painting :)
Original French cabaret poster created by Theophile Steinlen
"Terrence Chat Noir"
(18" x 24" oil on canvas, August 2017)
This is a little tribute to my very own sweet Terr-Bear <3 As you can see, I based it off the iconic nineteenth century French cabaret poster by Theophile Steinlen, and replaced the raggedy black cat with Terrence!
This poster has always been popular to parody, but since I'm a fan of the poster, and Terrence didn't have a portrait yet, I couldn't resist combining the two ;) I also changed some of the French words that appear in the original poster. Instead of "de Rudolphe Salis", it reads, "de Leshinsky", of course ;)And rather than the words "MONTJOYE MONTMARTRE" in the cat's red crown, I've added "LA OURS TERRIBLE", meaning "The Terrible Bear"-which is one of Terrence's most commonly used nicknames ;)
